PART-TIME FIRE INSPECTORS
The Village of Lombard is seeking two part-time Fire Inspectors (up to 19 hours/week) for the Lombard Fire Department. Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, essential duties include: Conduct and/or assist with various types of inspections including certificate of occupancy, life safety, public event, special process, hazard mitigation, fire protection equipment and systems and other inspections as required. Requires a valid State of Illinois Drivers License, and excellent communication skill. Certified Fire Prevention Officer (FPO) and/or International Code Council Certifications are preferred. CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
The Village of Lombard is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician for the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works. Assists staff engineers and inspects the installation of public/private infrastructure improvements to ensure compliance with village codes. The position will also assist with traffic related activities (traffic signals, street lights, signage, pavement markings, signal and stop sign warrant analyses, etc.). Requires at least a 2 year Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program or equivalent experience. Engineering construction field inspection, contract administration, AutoCAD drafting and total station surveying experience are preferred. Salary starts at $46,983 per year. FORESTRY TECHNICIAN
The Village of Lombard is seeking a Forestry Technician in the Urban Landscaping & Forstry Division of Public Works to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks and equipment operation work in the trimming, removal and planting of trees and shrubs on Village-owned property under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works. Duties include: maintenance and removal of trees including properly installing rigging and equipment as needed and adhering to safety standards. Respond to emergency work situations 24 hours a day, which include but not limited to: plowing or salting streets, assist in repairing water main breaks, storm damage, etc. under the guidance of responsible crew. Operates equipment such as chipper, large front end loader, snow plow, dump truck, hi-ranger, etc. Assists in the maintenance of equipment, including routine field adjustments and repairs. Comply with all personal safety rules and regulations, both written and verbal as instructed by the supervisor or other governing agencies. Ability to use various computer applications where necessary. Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., ability to earn within (3) three months of date of hire the State of Illinois CDL Class B Drivers License with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsements and ability to earn within (9) nine months of date of hire the International Society of Arboriculture Arborist Certification, State of Illinois Pesticide Operator License, Flagger Certification.
